Royal Pita Maha Resort Bali
Rating: 3.6/5 (9 votes cast)
Since 1934, the historical Tjampuhan area of Ubud, Bali has been the heart of its famed artistic community. It was here that the Prince of Ubud joined forces with celebrated Western artists Walter Spies and Rudolf Bonner to create an artists' association called Pita Mana. What began as a private guesthouse for artists soon became the undisputed centre for Balinese art. As befits such a large source of inspiration for the artistic enclave, Pita Maha Resort and Spa overlooks the picturesque River Oos. From its lobby and restaurant, the foothills of Ubud are spread out as far as the eye can see. Designed by a descendent of the founding Prince, Pita Maha Resort and Spa is set out like an authentic Balinese Village with 24 villas set in a traditionally styled walled compound.
Its workmanship is worthy of a Balinese palace, with wood and stone fixtures and furnishings each complementing the carefully tended gardens lush with tropical greenery.
Looking for a Restful Resort
This restful resort is anchored by its exquisite spa, which has played host to celebrities such as Cinty Crawford. Its tranquil Private Spa Villa is the ideal buffer against the assaults of urban life with healing treatments, tranquil surroundings and experienced therapists to offer the best options in holistic spa care. Relax in this haven of privacy and choose from a vast array of traditional treatments. A particular favourite of Pita Maha guests is the Balinese massage. Lay back for a blissful hour as a therapist kneads the stress out of your system with a choice of aromatic perfume oils like clang clang, lotus or sandalwood.
Meanwhile, its signature Ltilur treatment is one that cannot be missed. This ancient herbal skin scrub promises to rejuvenate the skin with ingredients that hark back to centuries past. The scrub is followed by a refreshing yoghurt massage and finished with a technical flower bath in the Spa villa's exclusive spring water pool that overlooks the sacred river valley.
Massage & Spa Treatments
The Pita Malta Kopi Scrub makes use of the traditional exfoliate, coffee. Starting with a 20- minute back massage, the scrub is gently for 40 minutes to remove dead skin cells and soften the skin. Afterwards, a carrot mixture is applied to replenish any lost moisture ensuring that the skin is left in optimum condition.
Couples can order up a special spa experience with the Harmony Package that encompasses two idyllic hours in a private villa. Spend the first hour under the healing hands of a therapist's Balinese massage before soaking in the energetic properties of the sauna, steam room and hot and cold Jacuzzis.
To get the blood circulation going again, a steaming cup of ginger tea is served before a short stroll to the resort's Terrace Restaurant takes you to a specially prepared Balinese meal. What better way to end a heavenly spa experience than with a spread consisting sumptuous offerings like Bergedel Kepiting (deep fried crab cakes with mango and coriander sauce), Spicy Balinese Duck Consomme and Tenggiri Bakar (char-grilled mackerel fillet).
