This was our second trip to Kanuhura and I would go back again tomorrow if I could!
From the reception at the airport (where your bags are taken from you and you are whisked into a lovely air-conditioned room complete with cold face towels and drinks) to the reception at the island where you think you are in an episode of Cheers ("the place where evrybody knows your name" ) the whole arrival experience is great.
Check in is pain free as again you are pampered with cold towels and refreshing drinks! They then offer you a buggy ride to the accommodation of your choice which literally cant be more than 5mins walk!
We have selected both times to stay in beach villas which on both occasions (once the island was at full occupancy) has assured us enough privacy. You are only a few metres from the sea where you can see plenty of fishes and have both a verandah and private sunbeds right there! If you are staying in a beach villa however we would recommend requesting to be on the side of the island where the water villas are located as this is without a doubt much quieter. The other side of the island is subject to the arrival and departure of the seaplane which can leave around 7am!!
The inside of the acommodation is without fault with your personal butler there to help you with all your needs this time we had Tek who was an absolute star. He helped me organise a private dinner on Jenuhura (island opposite the watersports centre) as a surprise for my husbands birthday and he was very discreet! Whilst we were there we heard that your butler will also unpack and pack your suitcase, although we didnt use this service.
The rooms are immaculate and the outdoor bathroom fantastic, very tropical! The only problem we had this time was with a few cockroaches but they spray the island regularly to prevent any major investations.
All the restaurants are amazing with the food quality and service second to none. Lunchtimes can be quite busy so if you are planning to eat between morning and afternoon dives you may be a little pushed for time!
The diving is fantastic and the staff at the Sun Dive Centre are all great very knowledgable and helpful. If you have never dived before you MUST try it here!!
The prices for food and drinks on this island of paradise can be a bit steep, so be prepared to spend a lot once you are there!
