Queenstown, New Zealand has often been described as one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Aptly, Queenstown is now home to one of New Zealand's new premier day spas, which opened in November 2003. Hush spa, a boutique day spa facility, is situated on the mid-level of a three-storey building adjacent to Home Creek. Majestic snow-capped mountains surround the area, and through Hush's windows, guests can glimpse trout and native birds that call this rustic area home.
Step through its doors and Hush's soothing lighting signals a respite from the vigours of daily life. The soft hues of warming beige set the ambience for a pure haven of relaxation and well-being. As well, the strains of soft music, especially chosen for its healing sounds, calm the senses, helping guests to unwind almost as soon as they enter.
Once centred, guests are welcome to sip on a glass of fresh nectarine juice or a cup of soothing herbal tea, and choose from the vast array of spa treatments that include body and beauty therapies, massages, and facial treatments.
Hush Spa is owned by a local mother-and-daughter team Jan Butson and Amy Green, and their spa was created after five years of intensive research. The duo welcomed internationally qualified therapist Jenny Hodgson to the team and together they created a place that takes its lead "from some of the most exclusive spas in the world".
Hush's facial treatments are proving extremely popular. Each treatment begins with a skincare consultation so that the therapy can be customized to suit each individual's skin's needs. Best examples include the signature facial which aims to relax and rest the mind and The Hydradermie Lift Deluxe, which uses gentle microcurrent massages and targets unwanted wrinkles.
Not to be left out, the spa also specializes in a range of treatments for men. These include deep cleansing facials, aroma stone therapy and grooming services, such as male-centric manicures and sports pedicures, as well as waxing.
One treatment that appeals to both men and women alike is Hush's Seaweed Infusion Body Wrap Excellent for treating aches and pains picked up on the nearby ski slopes, the treatment entails being slathered in a mixture of dried seaweed extract and essential oils. Guests are then cocooned in a special foil wrap and covered with blankets to allow the heat to draw those nasty toxins from the body. While you steep, a soothing mask is placed over the eyes and a blissful scalp and foot massage administered.
Also available at Hush is the comprehensive make-up service. Sessions include the Personalized Make-up Application and the Professional Make-up
Lesson. And for that special day, brides are catered for with make-up trials and on the day services. Hush is a truly one-stop spa for beauty and well-being.
Should guests get hungry, a menu of freshly prepared salads, meats, deli meals and condiments, fresh fruit and vegetables are available, and can be taken in the comfort of Hush's relaxation rooms or at the nearby Mediterranean Market cafe. Hush also boasts its own boutique so guests can take home some of their favourite products from the spa.
