The journey to the Island Spa begins the moment guest step aboard The Four Season's Resort spa dhoni, a traditional Maldivan wooden boat. As it glides across the turquoise waters towrds the private island of Huraa Fundhu, its gentle motion soothes your spirit, while the balmy breezes whisper against the skin.Upon Arrival at the spa jetty, guests stroll along a gorgeous wooden deck lined with thick rope rails. This leads to the breathtaking lounge pavilion, where jaws often drop at the impressive sight of an expansive white cloth tent rising seven metres from the ground. Billowing curtains lend an air of romance to the surroundings while the enticing scent of sandalwood wafts through the air. The Island Spa menu is elegantly simple. Guests can choose from Ayurvedic, Maldivan, Thai and Indonesian body elixirs, scrubs, massages, facial treatments and salon treatments. For a more native experience, the Maldivan Monsoon Ritual begins with a Kela Gana, or ground sandalwoord body scrub. This is followed by a soothing simulation of a gentle monsoon rain falling on the skin. A refereshing rosewater rinse then creates a meditative experience, while a restorative warm herbal oil massage nourishes and detoxifies the nervous system. The indulgent ritual continues with a relaxing steam bath before a frankincense sandalwood body lotion brings the treatment to a close. All treatments are taken in one of five pavilions perched at the edge of the private island'a white-sanded beach. Designed with couples in mind, they include seperate bathing and treatment pavilions, each topped by natural grass thatched roofs and lined with dark timber floorboards.
