Filitheyo Island Resort Reviews
Have just returned from our honeymoon at Filitheyo Island resort. We did a two-centre honeymoon with 7 nights here and 4 nights in Dubai. Flew with Emirates, which was really great - best airline I've ever flown with. Even the food was good!
Filitheyo Island is really lovely and we were very well looked after during our 7 days there. We had a superior villa, which was lovely, and as were were honeymooners they had given us one with access to a good beach. Some of the other villas are beside the sea but don't really have much of a beach to speak of.
Food wise, we stayed on a half-board basis, and found this to be more than enough for our needs. The buffet meals are great, with a huge choice of foods. For lunch, we ate a-la-carte from the Sunset Bar. All the resort prices are in US dollars and with the great dollar/euro exchange rate at present, the prices were more than excellent for the quality of the food. Alcohol is relatively expensive, so that might be one good reason to opt for the all-inclusive stay option. Filitheyo is a cash-less island and you just sign for everything (even in the spa, island shop and for any excursions) and pay when you leave. I would recommend writing down what you spend each day so you can keep track, but we found no mistakes in the bill presented to us when we checked out.
We used the spa on two occasions and really liked it. We also went on an excursion, which was fun and a break from just lying around sunbathing. The snorkelling was great and if you like scuba diving then it really is heaven.
A word of warning - don't expect to 'party-hard" on this island. There is no entertainment provided in the evenings as such, except for a traditional music session, table tennis tournament and hermit crab racing, which each happen once a week.
All in all, I would recommend this island as a wonderful honeymoon destination and for anyone who is interested in scuba diving and snorkelling.
